Eliminating Florida’s Business Rent Tax: A Critical Step for Economic Growth
Florida businesses are on the verge of a major win—one that will level the playing field and strengthen our local economy. Governor DeSantis’ “Focus on Fiscal Responsibility” budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26 proposes reducing Florida’s Business Rent Tax in 2026 and fully eliminating it in 2027. As a state, we need to support this move and push for the tax’s full elimination.
Why This Matters for Nassau County Businesses
Unlike every other state, Florida imposes a tax on commercial leases—a Florida-only burden that puts our businesses at a competitive disadvantage. This added expense limits business owners’ ability to hire more employees, expand operations, and reinvest in their communities. By eliminating the tax, we can help Nassau County businesses grow, attract new investment, and create a stronger local economy.
We're Advocating on Your Behalf
The Nassau County Chamber of Commerce is actively urging our local legislators to support the full elimination of the Business Rent Tax. This is a key opportunity to strengthen Florida’s business environment and ensure long-term economic success.
