City of Fernandina Beach Land Conservation Trust Fund Donation
An anonymous benefactor has donated $50,000 to the City’s Land Conservation Trust Fund with an opportunity to raise more!
A generous trust who understands the value of protecting the City’s remaining open spaces is asking the community to come together to raise additional funds. A $50,000 check was received on September 4, 2024, in support of the City’s Land Conservation Trust Fund with a commitment to donate another $50,000 based on two criteria:
- The City Commission adds $25,000 to the 2024/2025 budget for conservation lands (this is in addition to the $50,000 the City has already allocated); and
- The Community (individuals, businesses, and/or other organizations) raises an additional $25,000.
If both conditions are fulfilled prior to November 30, 2024, our anonymous donor will match the donations, creating a total of $150,000 to be used towards future conservation lands purchases.
At its regular meeting on September 17, 2024, the City Commission verbally consented to their portion of the agreement. Now it’s up to the community to make the rest happen! Individuals and organizations wishing to donate may direct funds to:
“City of Fernandina Beach.” In the reference memo please include “Land Conservation Trust Fund Account #135-36601 – matching donation.” Checks can be mailed to the Planning & Conservation Department at 204 Ash Street, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
We are so grateful for the philanthropists responsible for this significant gift. Questions may be addressed to Planning and Conservation Deputy Director Kelly Gibson: kgibson@fbfl.org; (904) 310-3481.
