City of Fernandina Beach Celebrates Florida Arbor Day and 23rd Year as Tree City USA

The City of Fernandina Beach has received its 23rd year of national recognition as a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation. This represents the City’s continued commitment to honoring community forestry. Communities achieve Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and celebrating Arbor Day.

In celebration of Florida’s Arbor Day, on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 9:00 AM, members of the City’s Planning & Conservation staff, the Nassau County staff of the Florida Forest Service, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, and Southern Tree will hold a small tree planting event at the intersection of Ash St and S 7th St. The Florida Forest Service donated funding to help pay for the trees.
