Appointed Canvassing Board Member for Primary Election
Nassau County, FL, 7/25/24 - The Nassau County Supervisor of Elections office announces that James Hurley has been appointed to serve as a substitute member for the Nassau County Canvassing Board for the 2024 Primary Election. Pursuant to 102.141, a member of the canvassing board cannot serve if they are a candidate who has opposition in the election being canvassed. Chief Judge Lance M. Day has appointed retired Police Chief James Hurley as the substitute canvassing board member to serve in place of Supervisor of Elections Janet Adkins.
James Hurley was the Police Chief in Fernandina Beach for 15 years and served in law enforcement for 26 years prior to moving to Fernandina Beach in 2006. Mr.Hurley served as Assistant Police Chief in Fort Lauderdale for 5 years before retiring.

- Deadline to Request a Vote-by-Mail Ballot: August 8th
- Early Voting: August 7th – August 17th , 9 am – 6 pm
- Election Day: August 20th, 7 am – 7 pm
