Nassau County Teacher Finalist in Local Wow Heroes Contest
Nassau County resident, Ms. Jan Van Delinder, has been nominated for the Beaver Chevrolet Local Heroes Contest which recognizes and shows appreciation for first responders, military, teachers, law enforcement officers, and firefighters/EMTs.
Mrs. Van Delinder, a teacher at Yulee High School, earned a Regional Economic Education Leadership Award from the Florida Council on Economic Education and was also was elected as the VFW Florida High School Teach of the Year in 2022 for her "Valentines for Veterans" annual campaign where she encourages students to Veterans in VA hospitals. She also received the Florida Excellence in Education Award in December 2022 from Governor Ron DeSantis. Now, she has been nominated for the Beaver Chevrolet's Local WOW Heroes and has an opportunity to win a new car!
At this time, we are asking the public to go online and cast a vote for Nassau County's own Mrs. Van Delinder to help OUR local hero get the recognition she deserves. This 50-year educator has worked tirelessly to ensure the success of our students by providing them with guidance, knowledge and care. Let's show our appreciation by helping her win the Local Heroes WOW Contest. Ms. Van Delinder is the only Nassau County resident to be nominated this year and is certainly worthy of this award as she has dedicated most of her life in helping our youngest residents with everything they need to be successful in school and in life.
