Healthcare and Senior Services

Discover health options

As Nassau County grows, so do the services available to meet the health care needs of residents and visitors. The proximity of Jacksonville puts even more medical options within a short drive away.

The 2014 national County Health Rankings of health factors that influence the health of a county -- health behaviors, clinical care, social, economic and physical environment -- put Nassau County at No. 12 out of Florida's 67 counties.

Nassau is home to private practitioners and specialists, clinics, chiropractors, dental, home health care, nursing and assisted living facilities, as well as mental health and wellness services.

First-rate physicians, hospitals and emergency department are available 24/7 on Amelia Island at Baptist Medical Center Nassau, one of the most up-to-date community hospitals in Florida.

All patients are cared for in the state-of-the-art Berkman Building which offers 48 private patient suites including intensive care. Baptist Nassau has a busy maternity department delivering more than 570 babies last year.

There are four operating suites, a complete range of imaging and diagnostic services and medical staff skilled in 24 different specialties providing care for illnesses and injuries encountered today.

Baptist Nassau was one of the first community hospitals in the nation to convert to an entirely electronic medical record system. The Emergency Center is a certified Chest Pain Center, and the hospital has received Magnet designation and redesignation, the highest honor a health care organization can receive for excellence in patient care.

Part of the not-for-profit Baptist Health system based in northeast Florida, Baptist Nassau offers access to many additional specialized services and facilities if needed. These include Baptist's Heart Hospital and Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville and Wolfson Children's Hospital . In extreme emergencies, Life Flight, Baptist Health's air ambulance service, can transport patients from Amelia Island to Jacksonville in about 20 minutes.
